I’ve kept the blog going even though I’ve been retired as a consultant psychiatrist for over 7 years. It’s not been very successful in changing the ideological perspective of psychiatry, which has been its motivation to help psychiatry move on from an outdated physical disease model of mental illness to a more relational practice. Although Google doesn’t update the blogger platform, it requires minimal intervention, so I hope the blog doesn’t just disappear into the ether or that I’ve been wasting my time.

Musings of a retired psychiatrist
I have been looking through the 783 posts on my Thinking Differently About Mental Health blog, which started properly at the beginning of 2009, originally called the Critical Psychiatry blog. It had a name change to Relational Psychiatry between 2020-4 (see past post). Although Google tells me there were over 1500 views of the blog in the last 24 hours, I’m not sure how accurate its figures are, which do fluctuate from day to day.
